Puntacana Resort & Club, La Cana, and Corales Named to Celebrated Living’s Platinum List

The Caribbean’s Premier Golf and Beach Resort Destination Top Lists of World’s Best Hotels and Golf Courses

Punta Cana, The Dominican Republic (June 2013) - Puntacana Resort & Club, the exclusive resort property in the Dominican Republic, and its two championship courses, the La Cana Golf Club and the Corales Golf Club, have each been named to Celebrated Living’s prestigious “Platinum List,” the magazine’s annual reader-selected guide of the world’s best hotels, golf courses, spas and cruise lines; published in the magazine’s June issue.

Puntacana Resort & Club is recognized with a #12 ranking in the list of "Top 20 Caribbean Hotels," and both of its two golf courses are recognized in the list of “Top 20 International Golf Courses.” The Corales Golf Club makes its debut on the list with a #14 ranking and is immediately followed by the La Cana Golf Club at #15. The courses are the only two in the Caribbean to be included in the “Top 20 International Golf Courses” list.

“Tom Fazio’s briny Caribbean gem skirts the blustery Caribbean Sea on six holes, most ferociously on the last, and it’s an exhilarating adventure. Opened just in 2010, Corales adjoins La Cala Golf Club on the list, its older P.B Dye Sibling at Puntacana Resort & Club,” writes Celebrated Living golf editor Tom Bedell.

Celebrated Living is the luxury inflight magazine for American Airlines Premium Class passengers. The annual Platinum List is based on the votes of the magazine’s travel savvy readers and is considered to be one of the world’s most definitive lists of the best hotels, golf courses, spas, and cruise lines.

About Puntacana Resort & Club
The development of Grupo Puntacana dates back to 1969 when Dominican businessman Frank R. Rainieri and Theodore W. Kheel, the late prominent New York attorney and labor mediator, created a partnership to construct a resort and real estate community that respects the natural habitat of Punta Cana while offering a world-class vacation experience. Maintaining a dedication to sustainable tourism, Puntacana Resort & Club has since grown to encompass over 26 square miles and now includes luxury boutique hotel Tortuga Bay; the Four Points by Sheraton Puntacana Village; the Six Senses Spa; the Puntacana Ecological Foundation; five residential communities (Corales, Hacienda, Marina, Arrecife, and Tortuga); a full-service marina; eight restaurants; a shopping village; 45 holes of championship golf over two golf courses and Punta Cana International Airport, a modern facility that incorporates innovative and eco-friendly design. In 1997, Julio Iglesias and Oscar de la Renta joined the Group as co-investors and have made PUNTACANA Resort & Club their home. Currently, Punta Cana is the most highly visited Caribbean destination and is easily accessible from all over the globe. Opening within the resort in December 2013 is the Westin Puntacana Resort & Club that will offer the full suite of Westin signature amenities in a spectacular beachfront setting.
