Constance Belle Mare Plage joins the European Tour

The MCB Mauritius PGA Open will take place at Constance Belle Mare Plage from 08 to 13 December 2009: The first tournament of the year for the European Senior Tour 2010.

The MCB Mauritius PGA Open will be a prestigious step of the European Senior tour, made possible thanks to the support of MCB (Mauritius Commercial Bank), American Express, Air Mauritius.

A total of Euro 230,000.- will be dedicated to the tournament and 194 amateurs are expected besides the 76 golf Professionals. About 1000 air tickets will be sold for this event.

Its predecessor, The Mauritius Golf Open organised with success by Constance Belle Mare Plage since December 1994, will be succeeded as from this year by the prestigious first step of the European Senior Tour - The MCB Mauritius PGA Open. It is a world renown recognition for Constance Belle Mare Plage and the outcome of 15 years of golf through the Mauritius Golf Open tournament.

This nomination also offers us the opportunity to affirm the positioning of Mauritius as a golfing destination. By choosing the Senior Tour, we are sure to welcome the Elite amongst professional golfers that have built a solid reputation in this field and are “Legends” of golf.

The European Senior Tour is now in its 18th season and continues to break new ground, with some of the game’s most iconic names, including Bernhard Langer, Sam Torrance, Nick Faldo, Greg Norman, Tom Watson, Sandy Lyle, Eduardo Romereo, Constantino Rocca, Mark James, Ian Woosnam, Gery Watine, and Marc-Antoine Farry, all continuing their illustrious careers into their 50s and beyond. Now comprising a schedule of 16 tournaments in 11 destinations over ten months, the Senior Tour is renowned for its relaxed yet competitive environment.

The three days competition of the European Senior Tour for the professionals will be played on the “Legend” golf course from 11,12 and 13 December 2009, preceeded by various competitions for amateurs particularly on the “Links” including the Pro-Am. Therefore, the non-professional players will have 4 days of golf as in the past.
