GOLF COURSE IN LOGROÑO
The prestigious IAGTO award of “Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year” was announced at this year’s International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Logroño-La Rioja was selected by the international golf travel media between 60 destinations.
Logroño, which is in the heart of the Rioja region on the north of Spain, is defined largely through its relationship to wine. Here the golf players will find a region with gorgeous landscape and friendly people; but more than these is the unique experience in a trip that combines tours to some of the most famous wineries in the world with a variety of “TAPAS” and an exclusive gastronomy offer while golfers enjoy its favorite sport in these spectacular courses.
Logroño-La Rioja offers three incredible Golf Courses to visit: Logroño, Sojuela and Rioja Alta and in the boarded region of Alava a fourth course Izki Golf; all of them in just a road trip of half of an hour.
Logroño’s Golf course is situated in the La Grajera nature reserve near the city. This is a fabulous course and it includes what is claimed to be the longest hole in Spain, and one of the longest in the world, at a crushing 619 metres, or 676 yards. Designed by Global Golf and considered one of the best golf courses in Spain, it is outstanding for its wide, open fairways and generous greens, a pleasure for a golf lover.
Logroño Golf Course has been the venue for all kinds of golf tournaments. In 2006 the Spanish Professional Championship was held here. Its par 72 18-hole golf course, with a varied and balanced layout, is enjoyable and challenging for players of all abilities.
Sojuela Golf Club, a par 72 golf course, with a varied and versatile layout, is surrounded by a landscape of spectacular natural beauty that makes it an excellent choice for players. It requires a player to have good strategy skills to achieve a good score. Do you dare to try?
Rioja Alta Golf Club is set in the heart of La Rioja Alta, the world famous Rioja wine producing area, in a bioclimatic spot of exceptional beauty, and it’s described as one of the most beautiful and versatile courses in the north of Spain.
Logroño is a city that invites you to practice golf but also to discover its culture, gastronomy and wineries. This combination of golf, wine and gastronomy is an unique experience, and one that should be properly savoured.
You will never regret the decision to go, and once you’ve been you’ll want to return. This is a truly special experience.
