Half Moon to Host 47th LIME Jamaica Open

16 March 2010

Rose Hall, Jamaica (March 2010) – Half Moon, the 400-acre luxury resort in Rose Hall, Jamaica, will once again host the LIME Jamaica Open.

The Dec. 1 – 4 event will mark the third consecutive year and the sixth time that the 55-year-old resort will stage the premier event for the Jamaica Golf Association.

The event will include an 18-hole pro-am and 54-hole stroke play tournament where golf professionals from the U.S., Canada, Europe, Latin and South America and the Caribbean compete for the LIME Jamaica Open trophy and cash prize. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 50 per cent of the professional field as well as the top performing senior professionals.

“We are committed to supporting the Jamaica Golf Association in its mission to foster and promote the development of golf in Jamaica and to sponsoring the prestigious Jamaica Open tournament,” said Aram Zerunian, Half Moon’s general manager.

The 2009 event saw Canadian tour member and Jamaican Johnny Bloomfield top the field with a two under par three day tally of 214 (74,71,69), and make history as the only golfer to win the LIME Jamaica Open three years in a row. Bloomfield fought off the challenge of fellow Canadian tour player Oliver Tubb who finished runner-up with a score of two over par 218 (66, 73, 79). Both golfers promise to return for the 2010 event with Bloomfield vowing to defend his title at the historic tournament.

Golfers can take advantage of Half Moon’s special Jamaica Open rates starting at US$159 per person, per night single occupancy and US$175 per night double. Rates include continental breakfast; however tournament registration, tax and service charge are additional.
